HOW DEEP DO YOU DIG?

Digging Deeper in the Word is not just for our own enjoyment and fulfillment, [dicovering hidden truths and gems]it is also to be used for more effectiveness in His great and glorious plan!
It is not just for us.

Like miners who have to go deep; carrying light with them - they enter into those dark and hidden places with the light so they can work more effectively; whether that be mining for minerals and precious gems or rescueing someone who has lost thier way.
We fill up with light when we dig into the Word and then we become 'carriers of light'.

We are told in 1 Corinthians 2:10, “For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.”  Hungry and eager to search the depths of God's ways, to sink our roots deeper into His truth.

How deep we go is reflective of what we find and how much we find.  I personally believe that God honours our tenacity when we dig; He is pleased and He starts giving revelation and puts gems in our path so we are encouraged to keep digging for more until we get closer and closer to Him.   So finding gems and precious stones will cause us to get closer to Him.  There is an increase of our fruit-bearing when we dig.  If I know the treasures are there but I refuse to dig, that is equal to having a knowlege without works[effort] and is arrogant and overconfident.  Knowing there are precious stones and gems, and I choose to dig for them,  is humility- As I humble myself and position myself to dig, it is like knowledge combined with work and I humble myself to do it.

We begin to dig--- first it is just digging only, just by faith, not knowing what we are to find.  Then as we keep at it and go deeper suddenly we find a few treasures! Oh, and the joy of that discovery causes us to dig even more! Soon we have a few more treasures! Some of us are happy to stop right there satisfied with a few treasures!  Others want to recieve all that the Lord has and will continue to dig until they hit the cache.

That is like knowing in part -- there is more to be found and so we dig for more of Him and also producing a deeper knowlege of  God.
Going deeper with God,
Not giving up in your digging,
Do not grow weary for you will recieve a harvest of revelations; a cashe of truth-nuggets; and your spirit will light up and grow stronger.  Be a digger and go on a treasure hunt!
I am!

GOING DEEPER IN HIM

Okay so I am learning how to go deeper.  I already knew, I just needed to be reminded, like many of us.   I need to spend tomorrow morning in His presence - I need to come to Him in the morning and just sit and be with Him. Perhaps do some journaling and develop some intimacy between Him and myself and then wait for some communication to start.   Sometimes I am the one asking the question and other times I sit quietly before Him and He askes me the question!  I always hear His voice by being still in His presence, listening and watching for what He wants to show me; then I record it.   He instructs me and tells me what to do- who to go see.  When I do this I give Him a chance to speak into my life and many times He problems solves the circumstances in my life and gives me great suggestions and wisdom -  that is ...  when I give Him the chance to do that!  I do however, need to honour what he shows me more.  In faith acting upon it  and believing Him.
This kind of a regime for devotions will deepen my walk with Jesus.   I want to go deep so I will continue in this way and see what happens.  I want to dig my walkway deep so I can  deepen my walk with Him.  Let's see how deep I can dig into this.  I have purposed in my heart to begin this and carry it through and watch for the fruit that comes forth.   Get out your digging tools.

STARTING SOMETHING NEW BY DIGGING

THE IMPORTANCE OF ALL BEGINNINGS: How we begin our day will probably determine the quality of our day. How we begin our marriages will have a lot to do with the quality of our marriages. How we begin our jobs, ministries, or any other venture, will determine their foundations. How something is started is often the primary factor in the quality of what is finished.
Projects begun on an impulse are just as quickly and easily abandoned. For any significant project that is accomplished, great care must be taken while laying the foundation.   Excert from book: Fifty Days for a Firm Foundation- by Rick Joyner.

SO before I can lay a foundation, I must dig!!!    The foundation I dig will be what is used every day. If what dig out collapses, then the rest of what I am building will collapse too.
1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

So if knowing Jesus and abiding in Him is the foundation of my spiritual life---- what am I digging into? What am I digging for? How deep do I go?
I must dig until I hit the ROCK [Jesus]

How does one dig?
Dig into the Scriptures
Dig for meaning
Dig for treasures
Dig for revelation
Dig deep so you have something solid to lay your foundation on.

■Luke 6.46-49 NIV

The Wise and Foolish Builders

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

So I had to ask myself; Am going to dig out a foundation before I build? ..  or am I going to just start building? I can only build 'up' in relation to how far I have dug down.  The foundation must support the building if it doesn't, when the storms come that building will topple.  There is nothing to hold it.   Digging is really about laying a foundation for the LORD to build on.   Digging is described as a] coming to Jesus; being with Him; intimacy and communication. b] Hearing and listening to His voice to what He has to tell you  c] and then acting on it. Faith in action . Do what he told you to do.  That deepens your walk.

Why do we say we honour God but we don't obey what He says.  That is called 'lip service'. Why do we mingle dark with light? That is called being on the fence and we know we can't serve two gods. Idols in our hearts are the things we don't want to let go of; even if we know it is wrong- because we like it, it entertains us, amuses us and falsely fulfills us.

So we say we have build our lives on Jesus and His word but really we dont' have a foundation in it at all; a foundation living in His word, not as headknowledge but as instructions as He tells us how to live each day.

Some think they are entering into heaven on the wide road; where they merge the worldly things they like with many things of God, and funny enough, they say they are serving the Lord, but really they are not acknowledging Him as Lord by actually letting him remove things from their lives that don't belong. Digging will lead to change.  Digging will transform you.

Jesus, adjust my life and remove everything that does not give you honour.  I want you to be first in my life.  Show me the movies, books, activites, talk, thoughts everything that prevent me from going deeper in you.  Cause me to go deeper with you Lord, start today.  I want nothing of the world or the world's ways. I wan't you to walk close to me. I want to press in and go deeper and get lost in you.  In Jesus name - amen!

CLEAR AS MUD - Art Therapy

Some members from the Brantford Christian Creative Guild [and a couple others who joined us] met at a local potter's studio to explore and experience a little Mud Therapy.

Therapeutic?

Let's see....Therapies are meant to bring healing and restoration; usually under an enviroment of mountains, fresh air, ocean breazes-
or perhaps a little cottage away from unnecessary ''noise'' and ''clutter.'' [I am laughing as I type]Therapies are for healing and to  remove emotional pain. Therapies are suppose to refresh and restore.

Where am I going with this?  Well, I am trying to tie in 'therapy' to our little adventure with 'art' and hopefully redeem some experiences we had.  :)   I am trying to employ the word  'art therapy'.   Not sure about that! [laughing some more]

We had many experiences and many types of therapies tied up in that one event.  There was some 'pet therapy' going on with the four birds, five cats, two dogs, [I am guessing at how many] I believe most of us [animal lovers] took time out to talk, feed,  and stroke, most of the animals.  There was an Ocean drum decorated with bird droppings,  beakless birds,  and a  poop-anywhere-you-want-kitten, a shaggy dog, and more.    One friend said, "It was like being at a  zoo where the animals had all escaped and yet there was encouragement to be creative."  Hmmmmm weird, very weird.  Another member exclaimed, "The room had a funny smell and the animals were a bit 'hmmmm' ...but since I do not live there it was FUN.."   We had food therapy - as we ate pizza on site - not sure that was healthy- ;)   Oh, and then the music Therapy.  Everytime the instructor left someone ran over and turned it down. [I agree it was a bit loud as we couldn't talk]  Which brings me to Talk Therapy - - otherwise known as a Psychotherapy - there was a lot of talking going on but most of us knew when to be quiet while certain others  ;) - no mentioning of names - continued to talk  which resulted in being centered out and they did seem to get in trouble - a lot. lol   Our dear friend became the point of interest for our comic relief.  Comic-Therapy- that's it!  Now our friend needs real thearapy.   Speaking of REEL-Therapy --that is what my husband did - he went fishing instead of doing pottery.

I guess it is time to talk about the art or pottery itself.   The putting together of the project was not hard and did not take much thought until it came to the 'decorating part' .  It is hard to know what you want to make on the spot.  I had lots of cool ideas afterwards.  It really did not take long to acually put the piece together.  I believe most of the night was listening to stories about animals and instructions on how to trust ourselves and not to worry about what we were doing.  Well, personally when I put out a chunk of money for a project I do want to put some planning and thought into it.  After all it is my keepsake- conversation piece.  I believe all who attended that night will have some funny thoughts and memories everytime they look at their materpiece.   I can't wait to see what all the 'thingys' look like after firing!  A few weeks will tell..  then we will post some more pictures!  Finished Product.
It has come to my ears that a few would like to go do that again...   hmmmmmm

The whole experience took me back to the days when I was working on my Fine Arts Foundation, at Mohawk College. I threw mud about three times a week. I loved getting my hands dirty..  I loved the feel, I loved the smell of the clay-earth; and I loved all the hours of creating.  When my life slows down I think I will return to the earth.   lol   That was prophetic.

All joking aside, experiences like these are events that open up the spirit.  To laugh, play, create, be artistist, be playful, have fun; these are all part of keeping our spirit awake and not dull.  I have been camping in a book by the Sandford`s called `Waking the Spirit`.  Many people do not see the value in playing, exploring, with any of the arts but it does stir up creativity as it wakes up imagination, vision and prophetic creativity.  It primes the pump for more-  yes I want more.

I am a creative being; I have a creative God who lives in me who would love to use my being to express Himself to others....  so yeah,  I will yeild to creativity!
